Onkyo BX = UMID M2??

Apparently the Onkyo BX is based on the much anticipated UMID M2 design.

The promise of …

Spec-wise 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB RAM, and Windows 7…around USD500

… is in reality

1.2GHz Atom process, 512MB RAM running Windows XP SP3.

Oh..and no 3G and a price tag of ~ USD730

Say what????

The Onkyo Japan website gives the following information:

Spec-wise, this isn’t much far off from my M1 (comparison in brackets below) except for small differences.

  • Intel Atom 1.2Ghz (vs 1.1Ghz)
  • 512MB RAM (same)
  • 32GB SSD (vs 16GB)
  • 1024×600 screen (same)
  • Windows XP (same)
  • Wifi b/g (same)
  • BT2.0 (same)
  • 1.3MP web cam (same)
  • Optical pointer (vs none)
  • JEITA operating time (idle) 7 hours. (vs real life 6 hours)

Me not impressed..
